We have never seen anything like this before. Maurizio Sarri has been consistently criticised this season for his insistence on playing N'Golo Kante in a more advanced midfield role, with many feeling he is failing to make the most of the World Cup winner.
Many were confused by the decision to move the best holding midfield player in the Premier League out of his natural position in order to accomodate summer singing Jorginho. Sarri has been steadfast in his refusal to change his mind on the matter, and it appears as though Kante will have to get used to his new position.
The diminutive Frenchman has actually popped up with a couple of important goals this season, but his strike against Spurs tonight in the League Cup was definitely the pick of the bunch.
With the ball falling to Kante at the edge of the box after a Chelsea corner, the midfielder unleashed a powerful shot on the half volley. The ball would go through the legs of not one, but three Spurs players on its way into the back of the net. Take a look at this:
GOAL! We're level on aggregate at Stamford Bridge!
N'Golo Kante has all the time and space to hit a fierce drive that flashes through the area - and three sets of legs - before beating Gazzaniga.

Absolute filth. To be fair, there was definitely a lot of luck involved with this one. Hitting it through the legs of three opposition players will always require a bit of a lucky break, but if he meant it this was probably the greatest goal of all time.
Chelsea entered tonight's second leg of their semi-final trailing 1-0 on aggregate, but were the better team right from the off. Kante's goal gave the home side a deserving lead, and the team has responded well to the criticism directed at them by their manager during the weekend.
If Kante continues to produce belters like this, he won't have too much more to complain about.
