Newcastle United crashed out of the Carabao League Cup tonight with a shock 3-1 defeat against Championship club Nottingham Forest after a controversial last-minute penalty decision went against them.
An early header from Irish Daryl Murphy, against his former club, put the home side up. The target man did not celebrate having helped Newcastle to promotion during his stint there.
After a first half without a shot on target, Newcastle equalised in the 92 minute thanks to a Salamon Rondon goal but Matty Cash quickly responded to set up a shock victory. The drama continued from there when Ayoze Pérez was brought down in the box. No penalty was awarded and Nottingham Forest immediately scored to condemn the Premier League side to defeat.
"He bundles into Perez, he doesn't get the ball. It's a penalty."
DonGoodman is adamant @NUFC should have had a penalty before @NFFC made it 3.

After the final whistle, Perez and his team-mates confronted the referee, who eventually required an escort off the pitch.
