Axel Foley: Munsterman was an emotional, but ultimately beautiful documentary aired on RTÉ One on Monday night, exactly one year on from the unfortunate death of the Munster legend.
There were happy and sad stories, some inspirational tales as well as some moments that really hit you hard, but it was an extremely well-made documentary film that was appreciated by everyone who tuned in.
We can't recommend it enough if you missed it - thanks to Ophelia or something else - and while there was rarely a single moment that didn't evoke some kind of emotion we particularly enjoyed learning about how two iconic and unforgettable moments in Irish sport came about.
The Munster players' rendition of 'Stand Up And Fight' as well as the figure 8 as a response to the All Blacks' Haka were moments that were seen all over the world, and for the documentary the likes of Conor Murray, Simon Zebo, and CJ Stander shared their memories as to how they came about and what they meant.
Nice to hear of Joe Schmidt and Johnny Sexton's involvement in the figure 8 against New Zealand, but CJ Stander's "Why didn't I think of that?" was fantastic.
They were two moments that will never be forgotten by those who witnessed them, so to get the reflection from those at the very centre of them was a really special thing to include in the documentary.
A sincere well done to all involved in the production.
