Bayern Munich had a nightmare start on Friday night when they visited Mainz in the Bundesliga, finding themselves 1-0 down within five minutes as the hosts flew out of the traps, but Robert Lewandowski pegged the score back in a matter of minutes.
The Polish striker swept the ball home after a lightning quick counter attack that was started from an absolutely stunning tackle by Phillip Lahm on the edge of his own penalty area.
With the opposition about to pull the trigger which could have resulted in a 2-0 lead, Lahm came from out of nowhere to take the ball and man, starting a counter, and the ball was in the back of the Mainz net in seconds. The 2nd clip really does the challenge justice.
Maldini-esque. 15 minutes later Bayern were 1-2 up when Arjen Robben found the net.
Usually when a striker does his job, he steals the headlines from whoever made the goal happen, but on this occasion it was good to see that Phillip Lahm was the talk of social media.
That's all started by a magnificent tackle from Lahm on the edge of the Bayern penalty area.

Lahm with another Maldini tackle. That should be a new @OptaFranz category....

Lahm tackle, Robben delay, Lewandowski finish. Individual power, Bayern too big to fail.

It's terribly poetic that my favorite player, Lahm, started that goal with my favorite move of his, perfect sliding tackle. Thanks Fips ?

That all stemmed from a world class tackle from Lahm.
