On the back of a number of very positive performances, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is now off the mark for Manchester United after he opened the scoring against Zorya in the Europa League with his first goal for the club.
The first 45 minutes were absolutely awful, as United struggled to get anything going on a pitch that closely resembled a car-park, but it did not take long after the interval for the deadlock to be broken, and it was done in some style.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan showcased his trademark ability to dribble at high speed as he picked up the ball around the half-way line and carried it all the way into the opposition box before slotting it past the goalkeeper.
He really is starting to show his worth, and now looks to be one of the more important players in the side as his quick-thinking and creativity inspires those around him.
Running at pace, playing direct, and drawing players out of position.. This is the player Manchester United signed from Dortmund, this is what the team badly needs.
The only problem now is that these great goals and performances seem to be coming in European competition, rather than in the Premier League, for the whole team and not just Mkhitaryan, but if they can translate that form to league matches then they will close the gap on the teams above them sooner rather than later.
