Since retiring from football and making the crossover to punditry and commentary, Michael Owen has managed to receive more abuse than he did as a player.
As a co-commentator, his voice puts people to sleep and his repeated use of clichés drive viewers mad, but it was his analysis that has wound up a few Manchester United fans after he appeared on 'Fletch & Sav' Saturday morning on BT Sport.
Owen expressed his apathy towards the praise that Chris Smalling is recieveing, and even went as far as to say that he could play centre-back in this United team and do a similar job.

That's just ridiculous.
Yes, Manchester United are playing in a very defensive style, but Chris Smalling has come on leaps and bounds over the last 18 months and is easily one of the best performers in the Premier League this season.
Also, Michael Owen would have made a pathetically bad defender, but I'm sure even he knows that.
