This is what Manchester United are missing out on. Memphis Depay has been rejuvenated in the past couple of seasons, looking like a completely different player to the one that flamed out at Old Trafford.
He has been in fantastic form for Lyon in Ligue 1, and has also carried that over to the Dutch national team. They topped their group in the UEFA Nations League last year, one which contained France and Germany, with Depay playing a major role in their success.
He would have been hoping to carry that form over the Euro 2020 Qualifiers, attempting to secure qualification from a group which contains Germany and Northern Ireland.
They got off to the perfect start against Belarus this evening, with Depay giving them the lead inside the opening minute. It was a bad mistake from the opposition defence, but the Lyon man showed good awareness to capitalise.

If his first contribution to the game was relatively straightforward, Depay's role in the next goal was spectacular.
He wonderfully controlled a cross in from the right flank, killing the ball with one touch. He then pulled off a stunning back-heel to play in the on rushing Gini Wijnaldum, who made no mistake with the finish. Sit back and enjoy this one.
Depay arrived at Old Trafford in 2015 with massive expectations. He fell well short of those in his debut season, scoring only two goals in 33 appearances. He would move to Lyon on loan the following summer, a deal which would then be made permanent.
Still only 25-years old, he is playing the best football of his career at the moment. The move to Manchester may have come too soon for the Dutchman, but it would not be surprising to see him given another opportunity at a big club soon.
