Augsburg secured a 1-0 victory away to FC Koln in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon, and after the match all the talk has been about one moment that completely turned the game.
Koln striker Athony Modeste had a chance to put the hosts in front from the penalty spot near the hour mark, but he missed, and the replays suggested Augsburg goalkeeper Marwin Hitz helped that miss happen with a very sneaky move indeed.
Hitz was clearly trying to damage the pitch around the penalty spot, and sure enough, Modeste slipped resulting in a weak shot that was saved by the keeper.
Sneaky divil.
It's bad sportsmanship for sure, but is there actually anything in the rules against deliberately damaging the pitch to affect an opponent? We genuinely aren't sure.
All we know is that he got away with it, and moments later Raul Bobadilla scored to claim all three points for the visiting side.
