Ireland has gone absolutely positively Dundalk-mad today following the Lillywhites' destruction of BATE Borisov last night, with the Irish champions progressing to the playoff round of the Champions League qualifiers.
Following the game, Ireland manager Martin O'Neill paid a visit to the home side's dressing-room in temporary Fortress Tallaght, and he was quick to pay compliments to the entire squad for what he described as one of the greatest results in Irish football.
He did, however, reserve special praise for Dundalk's Chris Shields, telling the 25-year-old:
You're one of my favourites. Soon as you can pass the ball properly...
Cue howls of laughter from the Dundalk men at Shields, who labelled it "a fair comment."
It's a terrific exchange, in which O'Neill also singles out Daryl Horgan for praise. No doubt Roy Keane will be at Turners Cross tomorrow night hoping for a similar outcome.
Brilliant for Martin O'Neil to come in and personally congratulate us.....and bring me back down to earth😂😂. Class https://t.co/XNEomiZ7MC
