Tiki taka gone wrong. Marseille's Luis Gustavo has scored one of the worst own goals you are likely to see, doubling Frankfurt's early lead in the process.
The French side had clearly been instructed to pass it out of their own backline, attempting to do so despite the high pressing of their German opponents.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder received the ball facing his own box. With three opponents placing him under pressure, he attempts passes it back towards Marseille's goal. That is despite the fact that the goalkeeper had made his way over to the edge of the six yard box.
Hilarity ensues.
Gustavo had the ball for well over three seconds, facing his own goal the whole time. How he failed to spot that his goalkeeper wasn't there is baffling, but you can be assured he will double check next time.
To compound matters for the French side, they would score another own goal later in the game. At least this one was inside the box.
Not a great night at the office.
