Marouane Fellaini's performance against Liverpool on Thursday night was typically ineffective as was to be expected when he is played as the fulcrum in a midfield two, and the running joke post-match was the the home fans should be delighted that he wasn't sent off, because that means he can play again in the return leg.
But that may not be true after BT Sport showed an incident that summed up United's pathetic display at Anfield.
Despite somehow not being shown a second yellow for persistent fouling, Fellaini then well and truly took the piss with an elbow on Emre Can that will surely see him punished retrospectively.
Idiotic.
What is interesting is that were Liverpool fans asked whether or not that want Fellaini to be eligible for the return leg or not, they would probably actually rather see him in the team, whereas United fans would want him nowhere near it.
