Anderson fills a (sizeable) niche in football. He is both widely derided by football fans elsewhere, but is fondly remembered by Manchester United supporters. He turned in a few great performances - he was part of a United midfield that beat Arsenal 8-2 at Old Trafford - and, perhaps crucial to being remembered fondly among supporters, he had quite a catchy song.
Since leaving United, Anderson has returned to his native Brazil (via a loan stint with Fiorentina), and is currently employed by Internacional. We use the term employed as, in Anderson's case, there is currently a difference between 'employed by' and 'playing for'.
Anderson has been suspended by Internacional for a training ground altercation which has been leaked to the press. (This being made public is entirely unsurprising for anyone who followed the Pat Hickey arrest in August).
The video shows Anderson squaring up to full-back William, punching him in the face, and leaving him with a bloodied lip. It all kicked off during a shooting drill during training, which some may read as being further proof of Anderson's indomitable will to win.
Watch it kick-off below:
Inter are struggling at the foot of the table in Brazil, and are increasingly haunted by the spectre of relegation. Anderson, by the way, hasn't completed 90 minutes for Inter since June, and it would now seem that is a run which will extend further into October.
