Liverpool's remarkable proclivity for signing dud goalkeepers may have struck again. Since Fenway Sports Group took over at the club, these are the goalkeepers who have been signed by the club prior to the arrival of Jurgen Klopp:
Doni, Simon Mignolet, Adam Bogdan,
Not exactly a roll of honour.
Mignolet's smoke wrists have displayed themselves too often in recent seasons for Liverpool, and Klopp finally took action this summer with the signing of part-time Harry Potter spell Loris Karius. Karius came through the ranks at Manchester City before returning to Germany, and joins Liverpool from Jurgen Klopp's old side Mainz.
In today's pre-season game at Wigan, Karius displayed a worrying spiritual kinship with Mignolet, with this very dodgy bit of play:
Obviously it's early days in Karius' Liverpool career, and we are definitely not writing him off, but it's not exactly a great start.
