The first big chance of the top of the table clash between Man City and Liverpool this evening went to Sadio Mane, with the Senegalese forward hitting the post after a brilliant exchange between Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino set the player through.
Unfortunately for Mane his shot ricocheted off the left upright, though City were lucky they didn't concede after the intial shot when John Stones cleared the ball off of Ederson and the ball almost went in for an own goal.
To be fair Stones recovered incredibly well to atone for the error, somehow managing to clear the ball off the line with Salah bearing down on goal.
The goal line technology showed just how close Liverpool came to opening the scoring:
Sergio Aguero would be the man to eventually break the deadlock, blasting the ball past Alisson in goal from a tight angle to give City the upper hand heading into the break.
