Leeds United claimed a massive point in their push for the playoffs with a last-gasp leveller at St.James' Park on Friday night.
With the Sky Sports cameras in town, Newcastle were looking for a win that would see them take another big step towards automatic promotion, which still seems an inevitability of course, but they were denied by that man Chris Wood. The big New Zealander scored his 25th goal of the season with his only shot on target, and it could prove to be absolutely priceless for Gary Monk and Leeds United.
Newcastle dominated the play for the most part, but Leeds hung in there hoping for a chance to drop to them, and when it did they were lucky that it came to Woods who buried it, sparking wild celebrations.
Superb play by Pablo Hernandez, a delicious ball from Kemar Roofe, and an outstanding finish. Great goal.
That win moves Leeds onto 73 points, and lift them into fourth although Reading are level in 5th with a game in hand. More importantly, it leaves them with a three point gap over Fulham in 7th who are trying to nab that final playoff spot.
There's something special happening at Leeds United this season, and even if they can't manage to secure promotion it is clear that the club is going in the right direction under Monk.
