Atletico Madrid claimed a crucial away win at Sporting Gijon on Saturday afternoon to pull within a point of 3rd placed Sevilla who have played a game less.
Diego Simeone's men can't afford many more slip-ups in the battle for the Champions League places in La Liga as they kicked off this weekend's action just a point ahead of 5th placed Real Sociedad, but they looked to be heading for a frustrating result against Sporting with the score at 1-1 with ten minutes to play...
Enter Kevin Gameiro.
The French striker bagged three goals in four minutes to rescue the match for Atleti and make the score look far more comfortable than the match itself.
Clinical. In fact, it was so clinical that it was enough to be the fastest La Liga hat-trick since legendary Brazilian striker Bebeto in 1995.

Those three goals were Gameiro's 7th, 8th, and 9th in the league this year which pulled him level as Atletico's top scorer in the league with Antoine Griezmann.
That result also leaves Sporting Gijon in 18th, level with Granada in 19th on 16 points.
