After Santi Cazorla's son made a mockery of some kids at the Emirates Stadium at the weekend, it's only right that we afford the same level of begrudging respect to the son of Kelvin Davis. It's all well and good seeing these 16 year olds break into the first team but when you're shown 5 and 10 year olds that are better than you're ever going to be, it's start to get a little bit galling.
Goalkeeper Kelvin Davis finally called time on his 22-year senior career with a testimonial at St Mary's last night, with a Southampton XI taking part against a Promotions XI, with the former triumphing 5-4. The highlight, however, came in the final minute. Sonne Davis -Kelvin's 11-year-old son - was given a penalty, after he was bundled to the ground. This is typical of a testimonial, the awarding of a late penalty in a bid to round off the evening in style.
When Davis jr. stepped up to take it, you would be forgiven for expecting a pretty tame effort that Davis did his best to concede. What transpired was something very, very different:
Holy shit, what an effort. Davis was never getting to that.
Reminiscent of a former Southampton player: Alan Shearer. Davis was emotional in the aftermath, and Southampton captured a superb image:
