Man City's quest for an unprecedented clean sweep of trophies met the formidable challenge of Burnley today in the FA Cup. Guardiola has rubbished the idea they will be competitive on all four fronts. Despite that, the starting team today is a strong one featuring Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling, David Silva, İlkay Gündoğan and John Stones.
It was poor John Stones who was at fault for the first goal as Burnley took an unlikely lead takes to a classic route one ball. Stones misjudged the knock-on header and fluffed his clearance. It allowed Ashley Barnes to go clean through and a sweet finish made it 1-0 to Sean Dyche's men.
The England centre-half is making his second appearance since sustaining a hamstring injury against Leicester back in November. It was a rare lapse in judgment from a player who seemed to have finally added some consistency to his game. He does have a knack for 'redemption goals' so may attune for the mistake.
