Joey Barton enjoyed a fantastic season for Burnley this campaign as he played a central role in Sean Dyche's men winning the Championship and cementing their return to the Premier League next season.
The title was confirmed with a 3-0 win over Charlton on Saturday, and on Sunday night the players celebrated at their end of season awards night, where the opinionated scouser was voted the players' player of the year.
As he was accepting his award, he was asked if Burnley had finished second and held an open-top bus tour as Middlesbrough did, would he participate. His response?
Would I fuck?
He then added a little insult to injury by making fun of the small trophy they paraded around the ground after a 1-1 draw with Brighton secured their promotion:
Seriously, look at the wankers at Middlesbrough with their shitty little trophy.

Funnily enough, Barton had also criticised Burnley's title celebrations, although that was not the fault of the club. Due to the possibility of Middlesbrough winning the league, the Championship trophy was not at either stadium, and instead some of the players celebrated with an inflatable trophy at the ground.
Barton expressed his belief that as Burnley were in pole position going into the final day, the trophy should have ready for the final whistle.
Trophy should have been there yesterday. We earned it. 46 games. 23 undefeated. And lifting blow up/cardboard trophies? Shambles.

It certainly did look a bit silly. Burnley were presented with the trophy at their stadium on Monday, with a few heads a bit worse for wear after the celebrations the night before.
Barton had also tweeted his congratulations to Boro for finishing second, although presumably that was before he saw their celebrations which he found so amusing.
Like him or not, the Premier League will certainly be more interesting with Joey Barton back in it, and Burnley will be looking for a longer stay in England's top-flight this time around.
