If I had presented the above headline to you 5 years ago, it would be taken as a mean-spirited barb from two rivals that strongly dislike the team the other man plays for, and yet instead it is a playful roasting from one friend to another.
Is it not still at the very least a bit weird that Neville and Carragher are such good pals?
Anyway, Jamie Carragher sat down for a chat with Soccer AM's Tubes to read back on some of his more controversial tweets that he has put out into the twittersphere over the last few years.
Aside from calling Mario Balotelli the most overrated player he has seen in his life, Carragher took great pleasure in ripping the piss out of Gary Neville.
I've put 'you left me for a six month fling, now come crawling back for forgiveness, can we analyse those "few" games [that Neville lost as manager of Valencia]' I think it was more than a few.
We've got it all prepared, gonna get all the clips ready, because we do the Spanish [league] don't we?
He was just bullying Phil, wasn't he? Like he always probably has done. Blaming Phil, it's all your fault. He said 'It'll only take two minutes to sort this out', the language wouldn't be a problem, it'll be fine...
Needless to say, the Liverpool legend was just poking fun, and it made for very entertaining viewing as it always does when you've got Jamie Carragher slagging Gary Neville.
But this does beg the question, are we going to see Neville torn apart by his colleagues on MNF tonight? You know they've toyed with the idea, but surely the first episode of the new season won't go by without someone, almost certainly Carragher, taking the piss out of the former Manchester United captain.
Now we're looking forward to MNF even more than we already were.
