Jose Mourinho has faced a lot of criticism for the performance his Manchester United side put in away to Liverpool on Saturday afternoon, and while he himself will not be bothered one bit as a draw was a fine result which left a seven-point gap between the two clubs, it did highlight an issue that may prove to be significant.

Jamie Carragher was joined by Peter Schmeichel on Sky Sports' MNF this week, and before Leicester City kicked off against West Brom, he hit the nail on the head regarding Mourinho's tactics in big games and why they will need to change if he wants to deliver a title to Old Trafford.

Carragher first acknowledged that he had absolutely no problem with Mourinho's tactics on Saturday, a feeling not shared by those who felt the spectacle was ruined by his negative setup, and that the result was a good one for Man Utd.

He then pointed to the recent form of Mourinho sides in top six clashes away from home as a reason why things will need to change going forward. Especially considering that Manchester City have already claimed wins over Liverpool and Chelsea.

One goal in Mourinho's last nine games against Top 6 opposition away from home is startling.

It's one thing to ensure your side avoids defeat in a particular game, but clearly Mourinho needs to find a different way to get results in big games away from home as it could be the difference between finishing above or below Manchester City, which judging by their recent form looks like being the difference between winning the title or not.

As Carragher said, the 0-0 at Anfield will be a fine result if they can get an away win at a Chelsea, City, or Arsenal, but if we see similar tactics and similar results, questions are going to be asked at the end of the season.
