The all-Premier League clash between Leicester City and Liverpool was unquestionably the highlight of the Carabao Cup third round draw, but if the first-half was disappointing in terms of action, things really livened up in the second 45.
Liverpool reached the semi-finals of this competition last season - and the final the year before - but were sent packing by Leicester after Shinji Okazaki put the home side in front shortly after the hour mark.
One positive for Liverpool was the introduction of Danny Ings for his first competitive appearance since May 2016, but soon Jurgen Klopp's men were 2-0 down and facing elimination.
The second goal was an absolute thunderbastard of a strike from Islam Slimani who linked up with Okazaki before finding the top corner of the net.
What a strike, unstoppable power and accuracy.
Slimani has had to accept a role in the background at Leicester due to Jamie Vardy being undroppable and the consistency of Shinji Okazaki, but he arrived with a big reputation and that goal shows anyone who was doubting his quality what he is capable of.
It's not the end of the world for Liverpool, far from it, it's only the Carabao Cup, but you never want to go out of a competition at such an early stage regardless of the difficulty of the opposition, so this will be a disappointing result for Klopp.
