After Irish supporters group You Boys In Green reached out to their Welsh counterparts for co-operation in taking a minute to pay tribute to the late Ryan McBride, we knew there would be a special moment early on at The Aviva Stadium on Friday night.
And special is exactly what it was. After President Michael D. Higgins unveiled a special Wales jersey with 'McBride 5' on the back, which was a nice touch from the visitors, an official minute's applause was held for McBride, as well as former FAI president Milo Corcoran and former Ireland international Ray Brady.
The action then got underway and soon both sets of supporters were participating in an outstanding minute's applause for the Derry City man.
That was a lovely touch after what will have been an immensely difficult week for many in the Irish football family.
