"The first casualty of the night."
Ireland fans have taken Paris ahead of kick-off against Sweden tomorrow, but the pints got the better of a couple of scoundrels during RTÉ's Euros coverage. And we're glad.
As rugby presenter Daire O'Brien cast aside the oval ball to interview a hurling manager about soccer, all hell broke loose in the background.
John Meyler was about to explain the differences between managing a hurling match from the sidelines and watching his son, David - who is in Ireland's Euros squad - play international football, when a couple of giddy Irish fans carried out a deftly orchestrated kerfuffle behind him.
As one Irish fan fell from what can only be described as a tame jab from one of his piers, he roared something about his assailant being "a fucking muppet," causing O'Brien - ever the pro - to describe him as "the first casualty of the evening" without so much as blinking. Credit must go to Meyler, too, who must surely have been tempted to have a glance over his shoulder.

Your man landing on the floor behind John Meyler is the funniest thing I've ever seen 😂😂😂

But perhaps the funniest part is the two lads in the back, who take the 'one of the lads farted in class' approach to hiding their laughter as their mate took an unmerciful tumble live on RTÉ.
