Despite almost going 10 months without a goal, Scott Hogan bagged his fourth league goal in three matches this afternoon, as Aston Villa defeated Barnsley 3-1 at Villa Park.
Villa had the game wrapped up inside 18 minutes as Scott Hogan and Conor Hourihane ensured Dimitri Cavare’s header counted for very little.
The victory means that Villa have made it four victories on the bounce to equal their best run of Championship victories under manager Steve Bruce.
Hogan may have been a tad fortunate for the first, although he showcased superb improvisation to stick in the back of the net. His second, rising highest to head home from a beautiful Robert Snodgrass corner.
A mazy run on the left wing by former Irish U21 international Jack Grealish helped set up Hourihane to score Villa's third and the last of the game, cushioning the ball into the bottom corner.
The Cork native has now scored seven goals and providing two assists thus far in the Championship.
