It's six years since Hibernian decided to sign a player they understood to be 'the green Messi'.
With a less than prolific goal-scoring rate in the League of Ireland, the Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers forward made the move to the Scottish Premier League with no shortage of expectation.
After two years in Edinburgh, Doyle took off on an escapade of English footballs lower leagues. A quick start at Chesterfield enabled substantial moves to Cardiff City and Preston North End.
Seemingly always on the go, the 29 year old Doyle is currently out on loan at Oldham Athletic; the fifth side Doyle has represented in 4 years.
Only a few points above the relegation places in League One, Doyle was in top form as Oldham overcame relegation-bound Rochdale 3-1 at Boundary Park.
Hitting Oldham's 2nd and 3rd of the afternoon, it was Doyle's second that particularly grabbed the eye.
With backs somewhat to the wall, a clearance was nodded on by Aaron Amadi Holloway into Doyle's path. What he did next is better seen for yourself.
