A 1-0 victory in the Kazan Arena sealed a sixth Russian league title for CSKA Moscow (13th title if you include their 7 Soviet Union league triumphs).
CSKA knew that failure to win their final day fixture against Rubin would provide FC Rostov the opportunity to complete Russia's own Leicester story.
With Rostov winning 2-0 in Terek, Moscow hit the front through an Alan Dzagoev goal in the first half. It looked as though the capital club would comfortably hold out to win the title, but with five minutes remaining, the ball ricocheted behind the CSKA rearguard, and goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev was called into action to seal the deal for his side.
A stunning double save by the 30-year-old Russian international, the importance of which is perhaps highlighted by the co-commentator who may just be the most emotional Russian man in history.
