Watch: If Only We Knew What Was Going Through Roy Keane's Head At This Moment

In the grand scheme of things, it was minimal. We'd just beaten Italy but the sight of Roy Keane losing control like the rest of us just seemed to sum it all up. The elation, the emotion and even a hint of mental exhaustion. It took its toll on us but, eventually, it gave us back so much more.

In terms of the defining memory from after the game, Robbie Brady's emotional interview is not going to be forgotten any time soon. But that image of Gigi Buffon celebrating with Roy Keane and Martin O'Neill was very special indeed.

Now if we were Turkish and watching that, we'd be absolutely seething like they are but, Bursa 1999, so we really couldn't care less.

There's been a bit of a debate in the office this morning as to whether Keane knew who was celebrating with him. The slight moment where he holds Buffon head back to get a second look has us convinced that he thought it was an Irish player coming over for a hug but, if that is the case, it only makes it even more wonderful.

And the fact that Buffon seemed all for it makes it even better still. We've already decided that it's iconic so we've invested heavily in a mindreader to have a look at what Roy was actually thinking.

We'd have to agree with him. As much as we enjoyed Roy's reaction, the image of Buffon happily celebrating away with the Irish management setup will be what sticks with us. Move over Andrea Pirlo, you've now been firmly replaced as the coolest man in foobtall. All hail Gigi.
