Former Republic of Ireland dead-ball maestro Ian Harte was a guest on Channel 5's 'Football League Show' on Saturday evening where he offered his views on the current Leeds United situation and what it takes for a Championship team to achieve promotion.

On a day when Leeds United scored a rare 3-0 away win at Huddersfield, Harte was asked what made the memorable Leeds United teams that he was a part of so special, and he was more than happy to discuss what was no doubt the high point of his career, as he claimed the fearlessness of that side is what he remembers most fondly:

For me it was a special group of players at that time. A mixture of young lads and a bit of experience to help us young lads along, but it was special times at Leeds United then.

Growing up with all your mates and going out to express yourselves on a Saturday, one of my closest friends was Harry Kewell at the time, but not only that there was young players like Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Stephen McPhail, so it was a special time.

We went out and just wanted to go and play football, we didn't have any fear at all. Whoever we played against, whether it was Manchester United or Arsenal we went out and gave them a good game.

Harte continued to express his disappointment at what has happened to Leeds since, but we were just glad to see him embracing his new role as a pundit since his retirement back in August.

Hopefully we see more of him soon, and you can watch what Harty had to say below:
