Despite going through a very difficult time in the Premier League, Hull City are through to the semi-finals of the EFL Cup after a penalty shootout win over Newcastle.
Liverpool will join them in the next round after beating Leeds 2-0, but after extra-time ended with the score at 1-1 between Hull and Newcastle, spot kicks were needed to separate the teams.
The shootout was over so quickly that the Hull City players looked confused at it's climax, as Shelvey, Gayle, and Goufrann all missed, and the goal that Newcastle did score was very close to coming back off the bar.
Robert Snodgrass set the tone for Hull with a thumping pen.

Bad news for Benitez, although the absence of extra games in an already packed Championship schedule isn't likely to bother a club that is firmly focused on getting back into the Premier League too much.
Jukpovic again proves his shootout heroics, something that may raise a smile to the face of fantasy football managers that picked up an absolute bargain for the first three weeks of the season... He's surely been sold by all of them now though.
