The most bizarre and unfortunate injury of the season has probably already happened, and it's only mid-August.
On the opening weekend of the Bundesliga season, German Nicolai Muller seemingly got his season off to the perfect start when he scored the only goal of the game in the eight minute, his Hamburg side getting their season off to a winning start against Augsburg yesterday.
Unfortunately for Muller, he didn't even last until the tip-off, somehow tearing his ACL in the celebration.
After spinning around and jumping in the air, Muller fell to ground in agony when his leg hit the corner flag,

The diagnosis is not good for Muller. He ruptured the ACL in his right knee and is expected to be out for a minimum of seven months. Hamburg's sporting director Jens Todt confirmed the freak news:
The diagnosis has come as a huge shock to us.
It is a serious blow to our season and obviously absolutely gutting for Nicolai.
Hamburg are historically one of Germany's biggest clubs, having won the Bundesliga six times, the last of which was in 1982/83, they also won the European Cup (Champions League) in the same year.
However, the club has struggled in recent years and they have been battling off relegation in recent seasons.
In 2015, Hamburg finished in the relegation play-off position, 16th place, where they had to take on Bundeliga 2 side Karlsruhe, but with the tie level 2-2 on aggregate after the two games, Muller scored a 115th minute winner that saved them from their first ever relegation in their 128 year history.
