For all of the money Manchester City have spent over the years, David Silva is still their greatest ever signing.
The diminutive Spaniard arrived in Manchester in the summer of 2010 for a fee of £25million, a period which coincided with City's rise up the English footballing ladder. Nine years and four Premier League titles later, he is now widely regarded as the club's greatest ever player.
But could he be the great player not just in City's history, but in the Premier League as a whole? According to Graeme Souness there is certainly an argument to be made for it.
The Scot was speaking on Sky Sports news this afternoon in the buildup to City's clash with Bournemouth, a game in which David Silva would make his 400th appearance for the club.
"He's got the most wonderful football brain." 🧠
Graeme Souness believes David Silva could be the Premier League's greatest ever player!

There's an argument for him being the greatest Premier League player ever, with what he's won. On a personal level, he's just got the most wonderful football brain.
He's not the biggest, he plays in the most difficult area, well second most difficult area, just behind the striker. He receives the ball in tight areas, and he's got a picture in his head long before he receives the ball.
He's not a midfield player who has to go into the back four or the back three and get the easy pass, he plays in a really difficult place and has been the best around at that in our league for a long, long time.
Silva is certainly an incredible player, but this is a big shout from Souness. There are quite a few other player who could lay claim to this crown, although the Spaniard's CV does speak for itself.
Another Premier League triumph this season would certainly do his case no harm.
