Girona became the first La Liga debutants to defeat Real Madrid since the 1990/91 season when they came from behind the secure an unlikely win against Zinedine Zidane's side.
Isco had put Los Blancos ahead inside 15 minutes, but if Madrid were expecting their opponents to be overawed and not fight back then they were sorely mistaken.
Middlesbrough flop Christian Stuani pulled the home side level 10 minutes after the break, and just a few moments later the entire Estadi Montilivi was rocking as the small Catalan club went ahead.
The look on Cristian Portu's face after he scored the goal is just priceless.
Aside from being an historic victory for Girona, it also lifted them into 12th place in La Liga, representing a very encouraging start to their first season in Spain's top flight.
For Real Madrid, however, they now find themselves 8 points adrift of Barcelona, and sitting behind Valencia in 3rd place.
After the game, there were some fantastic scenes as the jubilant Girona players drank in the atmosphere in the stadium and were given heartfelt congratulations by their manager as well as the club's board in the dressing room.

"I am not a fortune teller, but I already told you at halftime. If we play well, you can win against the champion of Europe, that's all."
Fair play to them, an excellent result, and to come from behind to take the lead, and then hold on as Real Madrid threw everything they could at them, will have those players on cloud nine.
