In 2010, Ghana were moments away from becoming the first African side to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
On Saturday, the side were all but eliminated from qualifying for the 2018 World Cup, after a goal with the last kick of the game was incorrectly ruled out by the referee.
Starting the penultimate round of matches in third place in their group, Ghana needed to beat Uganda in Kampala to keep their hopes alive of heading to Russia. The scoreless draw means they are more than likely to be officially eliminated on Sunday.
In the 94th minute, Andy Yiadom's shot was spilled by Ugandan goalkeeper Denis Onyango, before Raphael Dwamena scored. Or at least, thought he did.
Really unbelievable scenes in #UGAGHA. Ref wrongly ruled out #Ghana's winning goal for offside, then immediately ended the game. #BlackStars pic.twitter.com/s0Qi2r2T1Z

South African referee Daniel Bennett along with his Seychellois assistant referee ruled the goal out for offside. The replays shows the Dwamena was clearly onside.
Ghana have been one of the strongest African sides at recent World Cups, playing in every tournament since 2006. With one game to go in qualifying, they are in third place with Group E leaders Egypt facing Congo in Alexandria. A draw or Egyptian win will eliminate Ghana.
Five African sides will make the journey to Russia next summer. Already Cameroon and Algeria are eliminated with Senegal and South Africa looking unlikely to make the trip alongside Ghana.
The African representation could look a little different from recent World Cups next June.
