Fresh on the back of Belgian sports publication Sport Wereld describing Ireland's loss to "modest" Belarus last night as leaving the boys in green with "sore butts", we thought it was about right to do the same.
"Modest" Finland were the opposition on Wednesday night in Brussels, and while Ireland's loss on Tuesday was due largely to playing a b-team, the Belgians were pretty much at full strength, at least in defence and midfield.
The opening goal came in the 52nd minute and the Belgian defending did not look up to much at all:
And Belgium's late equaliser came due to a goalkeeping error, which spared them a very embarrassing send-off.
9 points lads. Easy.
In all seriousness, just as with our performance against Belarus, you have to factor in the players' desire not to get injured above all else.
Still, they didn't exactly make a statement, and 61st ranked Finland gave them a good old fright. Much like going into an exam and chatting to your friend who is just as unprepared and nervous as you, it's comforting in a strange way.
