One of the great tropes for any team seeking success, Luis Suarez was exceptionally keen to throw caution to the wind and not take 'one game at a time' in Barcelona's 6-1 against Girona last night.
If Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid go one better than Manchester United and win in Seville tonight, they will sit seven points behind the La Liga leaders, Barcelona.
With both sides looking at winnable games next up, next Sunday's tie between the two in the Camp Nou could have a decisive say in what appeared to be a sewn up title run for Ernesto Valverde's side.
It was clearly this subsequent fixture that Suarez had in mind last night.
With the match well and truly won, and the match-ball in his possession to boot, Suarez, reckoning that he was one yellow-card away from suspension, decided to take matters into his own hand.
We have seen such behaviour before; Real Madrid's Sergio Ramos such a culprit in a Champions League group stage tie during the Jose Mourinho years.
What remains so funny about Suarez's blatant effort at getting a yellow-card and missing the Las Palmas game through suspension, is the referee's obstinate reaction to such behaviour.
Clearly reading the Uruguayan's intention, Javier Alberola more or less gives Suarez no option but to play on.
An approach that even Suarez has to laugh at in the end, as soon as he stopped pulling out of a Girona player, one wonders if he was so concerned about missing the Atletico tie, why couldn't he simply be benched next game around?
You can watch the bizarre series of attempted fouls play out below.
