Manchester United legend Edwin Van Der Sar announced this week that he was coming out of retirement at the age of 45 to play with VV Noordwijk. Van Der Sar played with Noodwijk as a youth, and turned out for the club this afternoon as injury left the squad without a goalkeeper. The club assume Van der Sar's appearance was for one day only.
If it proves to be his only appearance, it will live long in the memory, as Van Der Sar saved a penalty:

We particularly like Van Der Sar's mind games there. The Dutchman retired five years ago, with penalty saving heroics the cornerstone of one of his most memorable achievements: the 2008 Champions League win with Manchester United.
