Napoli's Belgian winger Dries Mertens has been one of the standout players in Serie A this season and staggeringly his two goals against Roma on Saturday afternoon produced the stat that he has scored 16 in his last 15 games.

The match finished 2-1 after Pepe Reina denied Roma a dramatic comeback with a stunning save after Kevin Strootman had made it 2-1, but today was all about Mertens who's two lovely finished ensured that he was the talk of social media.

Well, that and the fact that he pulled out one of the greatest ever celebrations, and one that hasn't been seen for far too long.

After beating Wojciech Szczesny to put his side in front, Mertens got on all fours and crawled to the corner flag where he proceeded to pretend to wee on the corner flag like a dog.

Outstanding.

What's worrying, however, is how few people copped that it was a throwback to iconic Nigerian footballer Finidi George, who made the celebration famous back in the mid-90s.

That Nigerian kit was a mad one for sure.

But back to the Mertens show, his second was more about the assist as he latched on to the end of an inch-perfect Lorenzo Insigne cross.

A big win for Napoli who pulled to within two points of Roma thanks to that result.
