When you're an Irish international and you're not even making one of Martin O'Neill's notoriously large preliminary squads, your prospects of getting any more caps don't look good.
That's the situation that Sean St. Ledger finds himself in but he's doing his chances no harm judging by his link-up play with Kevin Doyle this season.
Goalscoring opportunities are going to be few and far between against Germany on Thursday so perhaps Martin O'Neill could think about a late call-up for Sledge. In all seriousness though, what a header this is from Doyle. Colorado Rapids may have lost 2-1 to Real Salt Lake to remain stuck to the bottom of the Western Conference but at least they have Doyle back from injury and back on form.

Elsewhere in the MLS last night, Robbie Keane was making a show of defenders once more as Galaxy drew 1-1 with Seattle Sounders.
