Would you expect anything else? If there is one thing that Diego Costa is known for, it's being an absolute bastard on the football pitch. He harasses opponents, cries to referees, and even falls out with his own teammates.
It is part of what makes him a great player, but he can overstep the mark at times. That is exactly what happened this evening at the Camp Nou this evening, as Atletico Madrid took on Barcelona. It was a game that the visitors started incredibly well, and they were the better team in the opening periods.
Diego Costa would soon turn the game on his head. He went absolutely mad with the Spanish referee when he disagreed with a completely innocuous decision. He was given his marching orders for something he said to the official, but that only served to win Costa up even further.

Diego Costa has been shown a red card!

While it is not exactly clear what sparked his reaction, it would seem to be the failure to be awarded a free-kick after the challenge from Arthur. Perhaps it was a foul, but it definitely wasn't worth getting sent off to argue your point.
Referees rarely show a straight red card for dissent, so whatever Costa said, it must have been pretty bad. He is the type in fairness.
He essentially had to be escorted off the pitch by international teammate Gerard Pique before he managed to get himself into even further trouble.
While the edge to Costa help makes him the player he is, his form has hardly warranted the headaches that comes with having him in your team. He has not performed anywhere near his best since his from Chelsea back to Madrid, and his lack of discipline can make him a liability even when he is at the top if his game.
This was not a good night for Diego Costa.
