Having left Anfield in the summer for Zenit St Petersburg, it's fair to say that Liverpool fans weren't too distraught to see Dejan Lovren depart.
However, despite his wayward defending and propensity to make mistakes, the Croatian still made 185 appearances for the club, winning the UEFA Champions League in 2019 and the Premier League in 2020.
So, there's some love still there. Kind of.
Aside from this, he also played in two World Cups and in the final itself, the latter of which Croatia lost to France.
Well, the two teams are facing off in Paris in a repeat of the 2018 World Cup final and Lovren opened the scoring with an absolute peach in their Nations League tie.
As Marcelo Brozovic whips in the corner, Lovren is being marked touch-tight by Lucas Hernandez. After the French defence wins the first header, the ball finds itself at Lovren's feet who feigns to shoot.
However, with his right boot, he performs a lovely drag back that fools Hernandez and with the ball now on his left foot, he absolutely smashes it past Hugo Lloris.
The touch. 💯
The finish. 💥

Since then, the world champions hit back with Antione Griezmann levelling things up until an unlucky own-goal from Dominik Livakovic gave France the lead.

Josip Brekalo drew the Croats level after he showed some lovely composure to slot the ball past Hugo Lloris, but RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano scored his first international to restore France's lead.
