Former Valencia and Barcelona striker David Villa is adored in New York for 'doing a Robbie Keane' and actually giving a shit following a high-profile move to Major League Soccer.
On Friday night he very well may have wrapped up goal of the season with a ridiculous half-volley that lobbed the keeper from just inside the half-way line.
The goal came in the 90th minute to seal the match at 2-0, and in his post-match interview Villa admitted that he only took the shot because he was tired and didn't fancy running anymore.
While the Union keeper Andre Blake made an absolute meal of the attempted save, it was still a remarkable strike from the 35-year-old.

Just a ridiculous goal from @Guaje7Villa ? https://t.co/YZY6UFo1Lv— Major League Soccer (@MLS) April 15, 2017
According to Fox Sports, Villa was not making a big deal out of the situation.
Afterward, Villa was asked about the goal and he explained: “I was a little tired from running so I tried to score a goal.” Only Villa could be too tired to run up the field and decide to score from the halfway line.
The win puts NYCFC top of the Eastern Conference, level with Columbus Crew, while Philadelphia Union are still winless for the 2017 season.
The unbelievable David Villa goal was officially registered as 53.5 yards.
