David Luiz was centre stage during the build-up to Chelsea vs Liverpool, as the Brazilian made his return to action as a Chelsea player on Friday night.
Now, a lot of criticism gets thrown at David Luiz and the majority of it is justifiable, but the Friday Night Football panel took exception with something that had nothing to do with Luiz at all it seems.
Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher both felt that David Luiz should have been dropped for tweeting 30 minutes before kick off, and Graeme Souness mocked his lack of focus, but it seems that they have no ideal how high profile footballers' twitter accounts work...
Watch the following clip, then look at the tweet in question below:
Here's the tweet:
Keep calm and start the countdown: 30 minutes! #DL30 #DavidLuiz #Chelsea #PremierLeague #ContagemRegressiva30minutos pic.twitter.com/wD4GTMQGR9
— David Luiz (@DavidLuiz_4) September 16, 2016
That has so obviously been posted by a member of David Luiz's social team.
The shirts and programmes are laid out hours in advance at Premier League matches, and it was likely scheduled to go out exactly half an hour before kickoff.
Luiz would have been warming up with his team as that tweet was sent.
It seems very unfair to have a go at him for that without at least acknowledging that it may not have been him.
There is a debate to be had over these tweets by proxy and how pointless they are, but that's for another day.
