When Daryl Horgan made the breakthrough from the League of Ireland to English football, it was very much a case of about time. The Galway man had been in sensational form for Dundalk and there was increasingly calls for his inclusion in the Republic of Ireland squad during the 2016 season.
This season has been a difficult one for Horgan. The talented winger has found game-time hard to come by as Alex Neil has demonstrated a preference for Callum Robinson and Alan Browne. However, during Preston's 2-1 win over Burton Albion Horgan grabbed himself a superb goal:
Horgan Horgan Horgan,
We've got Daryl Horgan,
We've got Daryl Horgan out wide,
He's Irish small & speedy,
Better than McGeady,
We've Daryl Horgan out wide, OUT WIDE #pnefc— Goose (@twiteringgoose) December 9, 2017
What a difference Daryl Horgan has made.

It's an encouraging sign for Irish football. Horgan is still only 25 and has only been at the club for a year, a run of games could prove decisive in his progress. With Preston's playoff hopes still very much alive hopefully Neil will trust in Horgan's attacking prowess for the sake of the player and the club.
