With Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill looking on from the stands, much was expected from Dundalk winger Daryl Horgan with so much discussion surrounding his form over the past year which has prompted many to call for his inclusion in future Ireland squads.
And he certainly delivered. Horgan gave his side an early lead with a beautiful free-kick that will technically go down as an own goal as it bounced in off the Cork City keeper having hit the bar, but with his second goal he made everybody watching take notice as to what he is capable of.
His own manager Stephen Kenny described Horgan as a magician after the game, but many will be wondering what Martin O'Neill thought of the performance, but when Tony O'Donoghue asked the Dundalk man how he felt about the Ireland boss' presence, he once again proved that he cares for nothing other than Dundalk's season.
That's a man with his head firmly on his shoulders.
Great to see, as with so much discussion about his potential suitability for the Ireland team, Dundalk fans will absolutely love his clear focus on the task at hand. Then again, they surely expected it as he is a firm fan favourite at Oriel Park.
Contrary to what he may think, it was an outstanding performance from Horgan, and it is exciting to see what lies in store for him in the future.
