While things did not work out for Daryl Horgan at Preston, he is still a player that possesses plenty of potential. While he has been kept largely out of the limelight in the SPL with Hibernian, the Galway native has enjoyed a quietly productive season.
Heading into today's Edinburgh derby against Hearts, he had four goals and eight assists to his name. His side would have a chance to move ahead of their rivals in the league with a win in this one, but they did not get off to a good start, with Hearts taking the lead after 25 minutes through Peter Haring.
Daryl Horgan would soon get his side back on level terms, however. He arrived in the penalty area at the perfect moment to get on the end of a cross, stretching behind himself to make contact with the ball and produce a smart finish.
He would double his personal tally just before the hour mark to give his side the lead. This one was even more impressive, producing a fantastic first time finish to bang one in from the edge of the area.
That goal would be enough to hand Hibs a precious away win and put them two points ahead of their old rivals in the SPL table.
Horgan was a part of Mick McCarthy's extended squad for the recent Euro 2020 qualifiers, although he did not make the final 23-man panel. If he can continue this run of form, he could force himself into the reckoning ahead of the games against Denmark and Gibraltar in June.
