Being a parent is tough, especially when it comes to sport. You want your child to succeed, though you know there are no guarantees. So you do your best to guide them, make sure they train, make sure they enjoy themselves and make sure that they're not left out.
Then it comes to match day and you tear your hair out on the sidelines as they end up costing their team the result. Or, you can step in.
That's what this anonymous father did when seeing a goal bound shot headed right for the goal with his son more interested in tending to his goal post:
I can’t stop watching this. Dad of the year ???⚽️pic.twitter.com/iLvhDoiFyb

Amazing.
I want to break down three reasons why this clip is incredible:
- The goalie enthusiastically rushing out into no-man's land at the beginning of the clip.
- The push itself (obviously)
- The shrug of the father as the ball still ends up in the back of the net.
Of course we have no way of knowing if the pair are indeed father and son, but for the sake of the narrative I think we can all suspend our disbelief.
