The Spanish football soap opera continues.
Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo sat down for an interview with Spanish media outlet Jugones recently, and ended up being made look like a bond villain thanks to that juicy Spanish football media editing.
Ronaldo has spoken openly about the boost that Zinedine Zidane has given the Real Madrid players since taking over as manager, and while it was clear that the Portuguese and Rafa Benitez didn't get on during the first half of the season, he had managed to remain respectful any time his former boss had come up.
Until now, that is. When asked directly if Rafa Benitez had helped him with his free-kicks, Ronaldo burst out laughing before regaining his composure and saying something respectful.
Clearly fake laughter, pretty obnoxious all things considered.
Ronaldo then said the following after presumably realising what a tit he had made himself look:
You can always learn from your coaches. Some things can be learned and not others. I saw different things from him than from other coaches, but obviously there are things no one can teach you. You’ve either got it or you haven’t.
You can get something positive from coaches. I’m not only talking about free kicks but how you strike the ball, how you dribble, but that’s their thing. Benitez would say ‘ok.’ There are some things you can’t debate with someone else because you think differently, so you just say thanks and that’s it.
It was a stupid question really, but there was no need for the theatrics, which funnily enough is something that has been said about Ronaldo many times before.
