Karamoko Dembele is the latest Dembele to generate a serious buzz around his ability after Moussa Dembele in the Celtic first team and Ousmane Dembele for Borussia Dortmund, but unlike the others mentioned, he has done so without nobody seeing what he can do with their own eyes.
The 13-year-old became a viral sensation simply for the fact that he made his debut for the Celtic U20s this weekend, an extremely impressive feat for someone of such a young age.
But can he play? Yes. Yes he can. A highlight reel featuring footage of wee Karamoko destroying opponents at his age level in a Celtic kit has surfaced and it is very clear to see why he has been fast-tracked to playing with the big boys.
Warning: As with 98% of YouTube highlight videos, turn the music off.
When I was 13 I sprained my ankle jumping off a bunk bed trying to emulate the WWE...
Has anybody considered how it must feel to be a regular member of that Celtic U20, working hard chasing your dream of being a pro footballer, everything going well at the biggest club in Scotland... And then manager says "Right lads, this is Karamoko, he's be in the squad for tonight's game" and you see a 13-year-old child staring back at you.
It's got to hurt at least a little bit.
Still, the boy is very talented, but how many child stars do we see highlight reels for only to never hear about them again? Hopefully this young star doesn't follow that trend, but he'll have to keep his head down and work hard to make it.
