This lad is going to be a big player for Ireland. Every time Callum Robinson has played for Ireland he has been thoroughly impressive. In the borefest that was the 2-0 win over Gibraltar in June, he was the only player that stood out from the crowd.
When he got a move to Sheffield United this summer, we were excited to see how he would fare in the Premier League.
The early signs were good with Robinson putting in a couple of strong performances as his side secured four points from their first two games. Today he reached another level.
Robinson was absolutely phenomenal in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea, wreaking havoc on the Blues' defence. He never gave them a moment's rest and there were some moments of real quality from the former Preston forward littered throughout the 90 minutes.
A first half missed chance aside, he was exemplary all game.
Enda Stevens played a major role in his first goal, going on a fantastic run down the left flank to provide the assists for Robinson's goal.
When Sheffield United were chasing the game late on, it was the Ireland international that helped secure a point. He delivered a fantastic ball into the penalty area, which Kurt Zouma was forced to turn into his own net.
(You can see Robinson's goal at 1.40 and his contribution for the second at 2.33.)
With a key Euro 2020 qualifier against Switzerland set to take place next week, Callum Robinson simply has to be in the team. He is a real goal threat and offers the type of pace that is so often lacking in the Ireland team.
If he can replicate his club form at international level, we will have an excellent chance of securing a positive result.
